The beginning

***DISCLAIMER***

The person in the above picture is not me. It's just some random dude from the internet that has a pretty awesome before & after photo. That, and his numbers are notably similar to mine. At least the before picture is. I'm sure the after picture will be as well minus the tattoos, perma-bedhead, and awesome unshaven-ness. I will replace his picture with my own eventually.

INTRODUCTION

I will eventually get around to creating a single blog post that spells out the details about me and my background. But for now that doesn't exist because I know I wouldn't want to read it if I was visiting. So for now we will get right into the experience of  THE KETOGENIC DIET.

RULE #1

Them carbs got 2 go!!!

Be prepared to challenge conventional wisdom in favor of some evolving science. I'm not saying to disregard everything that you have ever understood about health and eating. Just learn something new with an open mind.

Yes, it sucks, but the truth shall set you free. If you have become a believer in the keto lifestyle, you understand that carbohydrates are NOT friendly to the human body. I'll say it again.

CARBOHYDRATES ARE NOT FRIENDLY TO THE HUMAN BODY!

I can already head the scoffs and gasps of many. Imagine the internal voice as demonstrated by comedian Jim Gaffigan, "Who is the fella? He's telling me that 7-grain bread is bad for me? Who does he think he is? I don't like him. I'm offended."

I need to clarify. There are different types of carbohydrates when discussing ketogenics vs standard diet. When keto speaks of carbohydrates, it is really referring to 1 type. Simple AND complex carbohydrates that come from grain & sugar sources.

The sugar part is self explanatory because conventional wisdom has already told us that it is bad, bad, bad for the body. At least it is in the amounts that modern society consumes it.

The new science is showing that other carbohydrates are counter-productive to the human body as well. The carbohydrates that come by way of grains. That's the breads, pastas, cakes, etc. I know that it flies in the face of conventional wisdom. After all, the US Federal Government has given us the food pyramid. And they are the end all, be all of nutrition...right?
